TOP PLACES TO VISIT IN CORON, PALAWAN: PHILIPPINES

CORON was the first Destination we decided to go on vacation after moving to the Philippines. We had heard a lot about this place – nice beaches, Snorkeling ( people say that this place has the best “Corals” and “Fishes” to see). First I was a bit nervous being a Non-Swimmer(I was learning how to swim) but that all changed when I saw the beaches :-).

We booked our flight tickets by CEBU Pacific Airline. At that time Cebu offered cheapest tickets among all the airlines. For the hotel , we booked Westown Resort after a long research about the facility. The place had proximity to the city.  Some of the best information came from trip advisor rating that this is a good hotel, Live Concert everyday, Near to City and good for transportation to visit city any time.

The hotel provides an Airport transfer facility in PHP 200 per person one side. For more adventure, people can take a Tricycle outside of the Airport to your Hotel (if you have a Hotel in the same Island, else Hotel shuttle service is the best option).

After reaching Coron Airport, don’t forget to pick tour packages and information flyers from the baggage belt area.  Good hotel deals are also available on those pamphlets.

Also, if you have “Motion Sickness”, then please be alert in boats. As, these are normal and small boats and they shake more than your expectations. Sometimes it will lead to nausea. Keep your necessary medicine with you.

Coron has many beautiful Beaches and Lakes. To cover all those, either you can book a private boat with Guide (if you are 8-10 people) OR book a tour package. We decided to take tour packages and booked our 2 day tour for Island hopping. First day was the Island Escapade tour and the second day was the Island Ultimate Tour.

Island Hopping is the best sport in coron, Palawan.  Boats are small and if img_6408you are accompanied by small kids ask them to be seated while sailing. There are 3 Island in “Island Escapade Tour”.

Our pick-up was at 7:30 am in the morning, so we packed our dresses early. When we arrived at reception after breakfast, everyone was in very basic attire unlike us. Even few were in swim dresses Read more…

DAY# 2 IN CORON

Day2 was a hectic day, as we had to visit 7 places. One of the famous places is ‘Kayangan Lakeimg_6516. The lake is the most famous place among all visitors. We reached the boarding point at 8:30 am. Today’s boat was small compared to the last tour boat and we were only 6 tourists from “CORON ISLAND ULTIMATE TOUR“.

KAYANGAN LAKE

The first stop was KAYANGAN LAKE, it seems every tourist visits this lake. The pictures are so beautiful, one cannot say NO for this place. After reaching here, we told Read more…

 DAY# 3 IN CORON

We had decided not to take any tour package and roam around the city.  We had our breakfast at 10 am and then decided to go to the city to buy a souvenir, the first memory of this trip. TriCycle are the best mode of transportation on the island. It was a 15 minutes ride. There were small shops with some wood stuff  and after some searching we were told about one famous souvenir shop. The shop is closed on Sunday and we were out of luck. img_6569img_6571

We roamed around the local market. There is not much to buy other than souvenirs. For lunch do try the mini Cafe’s and Small Restaurants both sides of the road. After having lunch , we headed back to our hotel to enjoy some time in the pool.

OVERALL:The stay was awesome in Coron, Palawan. The best part of this trip is Snorkeling. It was our first time with Snorkeling and we really enjoyed it. And, looking forward to SCUBA DIVE on my future trips.
